Keep your certifications current so they never hold up a contract.

In short

  • An American Heart Association BLS card is valid for two years.[1]
  • An AHA ACLS card is also valid for two years.[2]
  • Add each card to Credentials to get a reminder before it expires.
BLS

You get a BLS Provider course completion eCard when you pass, and it is valid for two years.[1] A BLS renewal course takes about 4 hours, including skills practice and testing.[1]

ACLS

The ACLS Provider course completion card is valid for two years.[2]

Don't let a card lapse mid-contract

Check what your contract requires. If a card expires during a contract, renew it before you start. The Trips checklist warns you when a card expires during an assignment.
